The Year Of Marsala! | Toronto Makeup Artist

Pantone announced the color of 2015 is officially Marsala. This Wine-brown color is absolutely stunning. Whether you choose a matte finish lipstick or a satin marsala eye, this color will complement all skin tones and be sure to get you noticed. Top brands such as Tom Ford have obviously been keeping an eye on the runways and already introduced this fun and daring color in shades of lipsticks. I am interested to see the rollout of products cosmetic companies will be launching to welcome 2015s new trend. I am sure we will get some  fabulous nail polishes and highly pigmented shadows, but I would die for a metallic marsala lipstick!

I cannot wait to use this color for my next editorial photoshoot, but for those who prefer a light touch try incorporating the color into your look as a statement lip color or eye color.

If you are new to bold colors remember you can always add more later so start off slow.

Tips to keep in mind!

To avoid looking tired or under the weather when using reddish shadows around your eyes, make sure you color correct any dark under eye pigmentation. Sweeping a layer of concealer or foundation on your eyelid will not only help with pigmentation but is a great base for building on your shadows.

Cooling Marsala Multi ($25)

I have been obsessed with multiples since working with NARS for fashion shows. You can dab them on your cheeks for a sheer wash of color and even on your lips for a pop of color.

Dare to be bold with a deeper eye and a deep lip

Another way to seamlessly work in this shade with your current makeup look, is by blending it with a safer color. Using a dark black or a brown kohl liner and a smudging technique to blend the colors into each other, will create depth and still show off your new look. Don’t forget to use mascara & some lashes to finish off your look and add some extra dimension.

The best thing about a deep lip is that you can still look done with minimal makeup.
Tinted moisturizer, light coat of mascara and a deep lip!
